The Coonridge Organic Goat Cheese Dairy
From the Wilds of New Mexico
Since 1981 Coonridge Organic Goat Cheese has been altering the dynamics of natural cheeses. We offer a choice with superior flavor and full nutrition in reusable packaging.
At Coonridge we pride ourselves on our world-class cheese. But we are in business for reasons that go beyond providing excellent cheese. We are proving that wonderful taste and nutritional superiority doesn't have to come at the expense of the environment, our goat’s health, or our health.
Besides promoting sustainable, non-chemical, non-factory farmed animal husbandry and cheese making we strive to always live in harmony with the natural world that supports us all.
We know our customers appreciate our luscious cheese. We also hope they feel a connection to New Mexico's high desert country made through receiving cheese from our natural healthy does who feed in the wild.
Nancy Coonridge recieves the New Mexico Farmer of the Year Award!
Nancy received the news from the NMOCC's Joan Quinn:
"I am so sorry you weren’t table to be there to receive the cheers and congratulations—we’ll make up for that next year. But all our congratulations not only on the award, but on being such and inspiration and example to us all. Here is the announcement I made:
'Last, but certainly not least, our Organic Farmer of the Year. As we all know, there are many visions of what free-range livestock means. However, I think there is no one who would dispute that Nancy Coonridge has been an example and inspiration to anyone who is interested in integrating livestock production with nature. Nancy’s goats go out to browse in the wilderness outside of Pie Town every morning in the company of guardian dogs who keep them safe on the range they share with a diverse mix of wildlife. Nancy has been raising goats for 40 years and has been certified organic for over a decade. Being off the grid, Nancy has adopted an ancient method of preserving cheese by packing it in olive oil. You probably had a chance to taste the delicious result yesterday afternoon. Nancy is an enthusiastic advocate of organic livestock practices and has spoken around the country about her dairy. Nancy always has time for livestock producers with questions and generously shares her wisdom with new and established producers. Nancy’s internship program is training up a whole generation of organic livestock and cheese producers. Unfortunately Nancy can’t be with us today as her goats are beginning to kid and she is a little short on help. But please join me in celebrating the work of Nancy Coonridge.' "
